PHOTOGRAPHER - KEN ROCKWELL

KEN ROCKWELL.

Ken is currently based in San Diego where he has his own studio within a industrial estate.
He got into photography by taking images of his friends and family on the weekends due to his full time ob during the week that he continues in order to care for his family.
His first camera was a Kodak instamatics which he used from 1965 throught to 1973. He used to camera to photograph his back garden as well as doing experiments through a telescope.
Than in 1973 he started using his parents Richoflex medium-format camera, he than went on to Minolta and Nikon. He currently is using a Nikon D3 which remains in his studio , Nikon D7000 which is the camera he uses to snap images of friends and family as well as a canon s95 which is his out and about camera.
Below are a few of his images.

I personally really like his work especially his use of shutter speed. His family portraits are also very interesting. My favorite image is of the inside of the church in France ( above ). I like the way the artificial lights look like candles as well as being able to see the detail on the stained glass windows on the background.
